Are you old? Read YA novels

As a someone attempting to write a Young Adult book (teen fiction to you and me), this was quite interesting.

55% of those buying YA books are 18 and over.

The largest group in this being 30 – 44 years of age. And they were mostly buying for their own consumption.

So why might that be?

I buy quite a lot of teen books myself, all in the name of research of course. But I do enjoy them if they’re well written, and as a relaxing read. Perhaps that’s why YA books are so popular among those who are no longer teens.

So I’ll be aiming for mass appeal in order to make my millions. Or even just one person willing to buy my book.

And I don’t mind if you’re over eighteen.
